To download all the photos and videos from a WhatsApp group at once, you have three options: use the phone app's media view to select everything and save it to the gallery, use WhatsApp Web's media tab to select and download in batches, or use a browser extension that collects the open group's media in one run. The first two work in chunks; the third is the only one that treats the whole group as one job.
The Mastros WhatsApp Media Downloader is the extension. Open the group in WhatsApp Web, choose Media Download, and the photos, videos and voice notes the group holds download from WhatsApp Web straight to your computer, in bulk, with nothing passing through anyone's server.
How do I download all the photos and videos from a WhatsApp group?
1. From the phone app's media view
- Open the group and tap its name at the top.
- Open Media, links and docs (Android) or Media (iPhone).
- Long-press one item, then Select all where offered, or tap each item.
- Choose Save or Share → Save to Photos.
Best for: a group with a few hundred items, on a phone. The selection tools differ by version, many builds cap how many items you can select at once, and everything lands in the camera roll mixed with your own photos.
2. Select and download in WhatsApp Web
- Open web.whatsapp.com and the group.
- Click the group name, then Media, links and docs.
- Hover items and tick the boxes, then click the download icon. WhatsApp Web downloads the selection as a ZIP.
- Repeat for each batch.
Best for: a computer, without installing anything. The media tab only lists what has loaded, the selection is per batch, and a big group is many batches.
3. Bulk download with the Mastros extension
- Install the Mastros WhatsApp extension from the Chrome Web Store and open web.whatsapp.com in Chrome, Edge, Brave or another Chromium browser.
- Open the group and scroll back until the media you want has loaded.
- Choose Media Download in the Mastros panel and start. Every run is started by hand; nothing downloads on its own.
- The group's photos, videos and voice notes download from WhatsApp Web straight to your computer.
Best for: a whole group, in one run, on a computer. Free covers 100 profiles and 100 messages a month with downloads counting toward the allowance; Pro is $9 a month for 5,000 profiles and 10,000 messages; Scale is $18 for the biggest limits.
What can and cannot be downloaded?
Only what your own WhatsApp Web can still show you. That rule covers every method above.
- Deleted messages and expired view-once media are gone for every tool. There is no recovery path, and a tool claiming one is not reading WhatsApp.
- Status updates are not chat media. The Mastros extension is not a status saver and does not download the Status tab.
- Media not yet loaded in WhatsApp Web is not on the page. Scroll back first.
- Date ranges. WhatsSnap, one of the alternatives, offers date filters; Mastros downloads the loaded chat's media without one, so scroll to the period you want before you start. The media downloader comparison covers that trade.
Which method should I use?

| Videos and voice notes | Yes | Yes | Yes |
| Where files go | Camera roll | Downloads, as ZIPs | A folder on your computer |
| Passes through a third party | No | No | No |
| Needs a computer | No | Yes | Yes |
| Price | Free | Free | Free tier, then $9 / $18 a month |
Who this is not for
- Anyone who wants Status media. That is a different tool and a different tab; this is for chats and groups.
- Anyone hoping to recover deleted or view-once files. Nothing does.
- Anyone who needs this on a phone with no computer nearby. Method 1 is the phone route; the extension needs WhatsApp Web in a browser.
FAQ
Is there a way to download all photos from a WhatsApp group?
Yes. On a phone, select them in the group's media view and save. On a computer, tick them in WhatsApp Web's media tab, or use the Mastros WhatsApp Media Downloader to collect the whole group's photos, videos and voice notes in one run.
How do I select all pictures in a WhatsApp group?
In the group's Media view on the phone, long-press an item and use Select all where the app offers it; otherwise tap each. In WhatsApp Web, tick items in the media tab and download the batch as a ZIP.
Does the group know when I download its media?
No. Downloading only reads, and it happens on your side. WhatsApp sends no notification, and the extension never sends messages, forwards anything, or does anything another member could see.
Can I download a WhatsApp group's photos on a PC?
Yes, from WhatsApp Web: tick them in the media tab and download the ZIP, or run Media Download in the Mastros panel for the whole group at once.
Can I also save the group's messages and member list?
Yes, from the same panel. Chat Messages backs up the loaded conversation as CSV, JSON or JSONL, one row per message, and Group Members saves the member list with names, roles and numbers where WhatsApp shows them.
