LinkedIn Statistics 2026: Members, InMail, Limits

September 13, 2026·
Table graphic of the outreach benchmarks below, for linkedin statistics

LinkedIn has more than 1 billion members in over 200 countries, says six people are hired through it every minute, and caps connection requests at roughly 100 a week. Vendor benchmarks put InMail response rates between 10% and 25% against 1% to 5% for cold email, and connection acceptance between 25% and 45%. This page separates LinkedIn's own figures from vendor benchmarks, because the two get mixed in most lists, and ends with what they mean for anyone exporting LinkedIn data for outreach.

Is LinkedIn growing or declining?

Growing in members and revenue, flat in attention. Membership passed 1 billion and adds several million a month, and Premium revenue crossed $2 billion. The average member still spends only minutes a month on the site, which is why the engagement statistics above are about a small active core, not the billion.

How does LinkedIn define InMail response rate?

LinkedIn's Sales Navigator help defines it as the share of InMails sent in a period that received a response, counting only replies within 30 days, including free InMails to connections and Open Profiles and bulk sends, and excluding messages sent to email addresses. Follow-ups count as separate messages. That definition matters when a vendor quotes 25%: it is a rate per message, not per person, and it decays with volume.

What are LinkedIn's limits in 2026?

About 100 connection requests a week regardless of plan. A soft ceiling on daily messages to existing connections. Search results capped at 100 pages per query. InMail credits by plan, with Sales Navigator Core at 50 a month rolling to 150. Repeated violations restrict the account before they suspend it. These limits are the reason bulk-messaging tools get accounts restricted and the reason Mastros does not message at all.

How much does LinkedIn advertising cost?

Cost per click runs from about $4.50 for broad targeting to $12 or more for senior titles, and cost per thousand impressions from about $28 to $35, per 2026 agency compilations. LinkedIn is the most expensive major social platform per click and justifies it with job-title targeting nothing else has.

What do the numbers mean for outreach?

Three things. First, the reply-rate gap between InMail and cold email is large in every benchmark, but InMail does not scale: credits are capped, so the winning pattern is InMail for the few and email for the many. Second, acceptance rates of 25% to 45% mean a connection request with a short note is still the cheapest way to open a channel, inside the weekly cap. Third, every benchmark rewards lists built from tight searches, which is what a search export gives you: the Mastros LinkedIn extension exports People search and Sales Navigator results to Excel, and the email step happens afterwards with an enrichment tool, as covered in How to find LinkedIn emails in bulk.
