There are five ways to download Telegram videos: the save button in Telegram Desktop, the download menu in Telegram Web, a bot you forward files to, a website you paste a t.me link into, or a browser extension that downloads every video in a channel at once. The first two are built in and handle one video at a time. Only the last handles a whole channel, and only the ones that run inside your own account reach a private channel.

How do I download a video from Telegram?
Five methods, in the order most people try them.
1. Save it from Telegram Desktop
- Open the chat or channel in the Telegram Desktop app.
- Right-click the video and choose Save Video As, or open it and use the download arrow.
- Pick a folder. The file is the original Telegram holds, not a compressed preview.
Best for: one video, on a computer with the app installed. There is no select-all; a channel with 400 videos is 400 right-clicks.
2. Download it from Telegram Web
- Open web.telegram.org and the chat.
- Hover the video and open the three-dot menu, or open the video full-screen.
- Choose Download.
Best for: one video, no app installed. Same file as the Desktop route, same one-at-a-time limit.
3. Forward it to a downloader bot
Bots exist that return a direct download link for any file forwarded to them.
- Search for the bot in Telegram and start it.
- Forward the video message to the bot.
- Open the link it replies with.
Best for: the occasional single file on a phone. Three things to know first: each file must be forwarded by hand, the standard Bot API caps a download at 20 MB, and the forwarded file lands on the bot operator's server, where the operator can read it. A channel with forwarding restricted cannot be forwarded to a bot at all.
4. Paste the link into a downloader website
Sites take a t.me/channel/123 link and fetch the file.
- Right-click the message and copy its link.
- Paste it into the site.
- Download the file it returns.
Best for: a public channel post, when you are on a device with no Telegram at all. The limit is built in: the site sees what a logged-out visitor sees, so a private channel, a group, or anything behind a join is out of reach. A site that asks for your phone number and login code to get past that is asking for your account.
5. Download a whole channel with the Mastros extension
- Install the Mastros Telegram extension from the Chrome Web Store. It runs in Chrome, Edge, Brave and any other Chromium browser.
- Open web.telegram.org and the channel, group or chat. The extension reads the session you are already signed in to, so a private channel you have joined works like a public one.
- Open Media Download in the Mastros panel and set how many messages to scan.

- Start. Every matching video downloads from Telegram to your browser and arrives as one ZIP with the original file names.
The extension downloads one file at a time through your own Telegram Web session. A file that does not arrive is counted in the summary at the end, and a long run is saved as it goes in several ZIPs, so an interruption keeps every part already saved.
Best for: a channel, a group, or a chat with more videos than you want to click. Two columns decide it. Private channels rules out every tool that does not run inside your own account. Passes through a third party is the one people check last: a bot or a site has a copy of the file, and of the fact that you wanted it.
What about channels where saving is disabled?
Channel owners can switch on content protection, which removes the save and forward options in Telegram's own apps. This post makes no claim about getting around that, and you should be suspicious of a tool that does. Is there a size limit?
Telegram caps a single file at 2 GB, or 4 GB with Telegram Premium. Every method above downloads whatever Telegram serves for the message, which is the same file a manual save produces, except the bot route, where the standard Bot API stops at 20 MB.
Who this is not for
- Anyone who wants to download from a channel they have not joined. No tool reaches it. Join the channel first, then use any of methods 1, 2 or 5.
- Anyone who wants an APK from outside the Play Store. A sideloaded downloader is unsigned code with whatever permissions it asks for, and the ones aimed at Telegram routinely ask for a phone number or login code. Use the Play Store or a browser.

FAQ
How do I download videos from a private Telegram channel?
Join it in your own account, open it on web.telegram.org, and run Media Download with Videos ticked. A private channel is private about discovery, not about access: once you are a member, its media downloads exactly like a public channel's.
Can I download a Telegram video by link?
Open the link in Telegram Web first, then download. Paste the t.me link into the browser, let Telegram Web open that chat or post, and run Media Download on it. Paste-a-link websites only work for public channels, because they see what a logged-out visitor sees.
